Through the continuous emergence of technology, new devices are being created that allow us to have a more convenient life. This is when spectrum analyzer comes into the picture. Basically, there are two types of spectrum analyzers namely digital and analog. Analog analyzers use a filter with a mid frequency that can be shifted automatically through frequencies series where measurement of the spectrum can be done. On the other hand, digital spectrum uses a mathematical method called FFT or fast fourier transform, which transforms a waveform into the various parts of the spectrum of its frequency.

However, there are some downsides of spectrum analyzer or there are some limitations of this device. For instance, in general, spectrum analyzers do not have the ability to detect signals that are weaker than the other elements in the background such as noise. But with the help of an RBW, spectrum analyzer can be used with its full function.
Spectrum analyzers are used in different and several applications. First, this device is used in frequency device measurement. This process pertains to the amplitude response of a machine against frequency of device. Secondly, spectrum analyzer is also used as an optical band pass filter. Hence, it is ideal for Microwave tower monitoring. The device is used to verify the transmitter’s frequency and strengths of the signal. Lastly, spectrum analyzer is also used as a device to convert higher frequencies.
